Important signs
- Snoring on most nights
- Pauses, gasping or restless sleep
- Mouth breathing
- Daytime sleepiness, hyperactivity or poor concentration
Sleep and breathing
Frequent loud snoring, breathing pauses and restless sleep should not automatically be considered normal.
Assessment may include history, examination, overnight oximetry and referral for a fuller sleep study when indicated.
Depending on the findings, collaboration with ENT or sleep specialists may be appropriate.
